The land is a roughly rectangular 27 acre plot on Lookout Mountain in Northeast Alabama. The southernmost part of the Cumberland Plateau of the Appalachian Mountains kisses this land.
The land is gently rolling, slightly rocky…
The majority of the plot is pasture. It’s been used for grazing cattle, and has been planted in non-native grasses.
Traditional American cattle culture uses herbicides to control the native plants, and non-native grasses such as bahiagrass and bermudagrass are allowed to dominate the open fields. Brambles such as blackberries and native plants that shelter for other animals are discouraged to optimize the land for cattle.
This particular plot is on Lookout Mountain, which is technically on the Cumberland Plateau of the Appalachian Mountains. Traditionally this regions was covered with hardwoods and pines.
